There can be considerable disruption when a utility service provider crosses land.
Water, electric, gas, drainage and road schemes, including under compulsory purchase powers and one-off claims for emergency repair works, can have significant impact on the working of a farm or estate.
We have negotiated on behalf of numerous landowners, farmers and tenant farmers in claims for compensation caused by damage, easements or loss of use of the land.
Case study
A new high-voltage electricity supply from Burford to Ludlow was set to cause disruption during the build and leave another set of pylons on the landscape. We represented a group of some eight farmers and landlords in negotiations over a number of years, and not only gained compensation for the upheaval caused to their businesses, but also discussed with Western Power Distribution placing the line underground, which they duly agreed.
Compensation was paid on the value of each client's interests, and we managed to improve on the values agreed with other agents.
