Tenbury Sheep Sale

13 August 2016

1711 store sheep were forward for the first monthly sale on Saturday 13th August 2016.  The Brexit vote and resulting weakening pound has vastly improved the demand for lamb for export and the store trade has followed suit with a very large turnout of buyers and prices well in advance of recent sales and about £14 up on 2015.  The only disappointment being a shortage of store lambs as a lot have been diverted through the fat ring.

The store lambs met a rip roaring trade with a top price of £85.  All the stronger and meatier lambs sold well in excess of £70 with medium term stores selling from £65 to £70 and small stores from £60 upwards.  Only a few mini and small hill types sold under £60.  The overall average was £68.36 (2015 £54.34).
